Seasonal work

During my two point five weeks off during the Holiday season, I am going to work a seasonal job. I am excited about the opportunity and hope it will be a fun way to spend my extra time.

While filling out paperwork, another associate asked if I was nervous about working in a retail setting. My response, "this can't be much harder than working with 60 kids every day". Now I just hope that I am correct.

And, I hope that the 20% discount comes in handy, too.

Knowledge is power

The more you know about a topic, the choices you can make regarding that topic be come more weighted and wise. While Dale was working on his deer blind this weekend, I had alot of time to watch a documentary that I had heard some talk about. It was titled, Fork Over Knife.

The movie tracks two scientists who have spent thirty years studying the effect of food on the human body. Through their research they determine that countries whose diets consists of whole food plant based diets have less heart disease, prostate cancer, and hundreds of other ailments.

These scientists were also able to find a small group of people who had suffered from heart disease, prostate cancer, diabetes, and other health issues that were hindering their quality of life. Utilizing a whole foods plant based diet, or Vegan Diet, they were able to leave behind diabetes, lose weight, reverse their health damage, and turn around their life.

The documentary showed many diverse studies that proved the hypothesis that diet has a true impact on our health. To see how the Vegan diet has a role on health, Dale and I are going to try this kind of diet for one week following Thanksgiving. Others who have tried this diet and currently live a Vegan lifestyle claim they have more energy, sleep better, think more clearly, and have a better sense of health. We shall see how this week proves.

In February of 2011, Oprah took a three week Vegan challenge and has a menu posted on her website. We will be following this menu which includes meat substitutes, fresh vegetables, and whole grains. This menu will be posted during the week and we well also post how we are feeling during the week.
